Cosmic Communities of Spirit and Networks of Sacred Tradition

Cosmic Communities of Spirit and Networks of Sacred Tradition

Reflection

Humanity has been on a long journey of Spirit across the ages. Each one of us is a part of that sacred journey in our own lifetimes. We share this spiritual pilgrimage with our ancestors and now with countless others in our world today. What we can say is that human beings have traditionally gathered into bands and communities to help one another. One way of thinking about the various great religious traditions is that they are cosmic communities of support that continue to receive assistance from the divine Spirit.

The Oriental Orthodox Community is one such small gathering of women and men from across the globe that joins together in networks to support one another and draw strength from Above as well as from other wisdom seekers and practitioners from many different traditions. Though our particular vocation is grounded in the wisdom teachings of Yeshua (Jesus), we seek to be in contact with practitioners of other sacred traditions across a vast network of Spirit and wisdom who share insights and understandings that bind us together in common goals for the good of humanity and the planet.

Traditional wisdom offers us gifts from the past but also direction and guidance for the reality we live now. We need not feel isolated nor alone in our own pilgrimages. We can draw strength from both the living streams of ancient wisdom but also from direct contact with fellow pilgrims and the touch of the Spirit on our lives today. Each community is, of course, unique and gives refuge and sanctuary in an increasingly difficult world.

There are many reasons for joining the cosmic network of individuals and communities. Not the least of these is to help us avoid the sense of isolation that we may feel in a culture that does not always understand our longings and search. Inevitably we may feel that we are alone in the world—but this is not true. We are not. We are part of a caravan of souls on a pilgrimage, and, as best we can, we are meant to share this experience with others, while knowing we have important work to do individually and sometimes alone.

If what you have seen and experienced so far has strengthened you with insight or enabled your own personal practice and search in some way, we invite you to continue to explore with us as a fellow pilgrim. Please know that we encourage your further discernment, but that we are also willing to assist your participation with us in this community as you are led to do so. Obviously this pathway is not for everyone, but it is meant for some, and you are welcome to explore Perennial Wisdom through the lineage of Yeshua as we continue to make our pilgrimage across time, space and beyond together.

Practice

  1. If you have other questions of us, please know that we are willing to begin a conversation with you. We encourage you to continue to ask questions, and certainly bring those you have journaled as you have read through these short introductory sessions concerning the Order with you. If you are interested, contact us, and we will put you in touch with one of our monks and members of the Order.

  2. Sometimes it is important to speak directly to a monk or friend of the Order, and there is an opportunity to do so. You will be contacted by email to set up various kinds of exchanges through continued email contact, a phone call, or even a Zoom link, if you so choose.

  3. Here is a short video introduction by one of the Abbots of the Order that will help to orient you further.
